I just received mine, and after trying to connect to my balance amp and tube amp with iphone as source via usb/camera kit, there's no sound. I tried my laptop connecting to the USB, and no sound. I tried the DX7s HP out both on iphone and laptop, and there's no sound coming out. In the display, it says USB input/44.1kkHz, I know it can properly detect my source via USB. I tried a different USB cable, and still no sound. It feels like my unit is in MUTE state, or possibly my unit is dud? Am I missing something? I'm pretty sure the voltage is properly selected to 115v. I can access the menu system, select an input/output via the selector switch, but my unit is not outputing sound. All my sources are USB so this better be working, I have no way to test the opt and coax :(
Have you tried sound source other than 44.1KHz? The unit default is 441KHz PCM. Try different sampling rate or DSD to make sure it is not USB issue. If the unit is in MUTE, it will display "MUTE" on the front panel. If it shows between -30db and 0db, it is not in mute mode. BTW, on power on the volume is default to -30db and just about as mute with no audiable output.
Go to sound icon in task bar right click and select playback devices then try disabling everything else but the usb audio playback for the dx7s which should show up and be enabled and default device.
I don't have this unit, but you may also want to download the usb driver.
Correction, the default initial power on volume is more like -99db. Memory laps as I have it for sometimes now. BTW, you do know you need to select the output using the front panel button right?
It is working now on my iphone. It turns out my iphone volume is set to 10%. In the past, whenever I connect my iphone to DAC, it automatically sets the volume to 100% so not sure why it was reset to 10%.
It is working now. User error, makes me feel like an idiot lol :)
