Good Price, Good Quality
It's a pretty good portable amplifier, and it has enough power to drive most headphones.
But now there are some alternatives, so I recommend you to choose carefully.
like nx7, g5, etc.

Great accept for the port
I love the sound and for. Factor of this but having sepperate plugs for charging and usage is jank at best. Especially when a single USB c could have done a better job over all

... Have I ever actually used this outside of testing?
There's actually a bit of a story behind this one because I didn't purchase it directly.
Long ago I had purchased the NX2S which was pretty much my go-to when I was working off of a laptop. At some point though, I lost the NX2S. In the midst of my caterwauling and whining an offer was made to replace it.
I jokingly tossed a link to the NX4 here on Drop.
Then the money needed to buy this... arrived in Paypal.
Well, okay then.
A little while AFTER getting the NX4 in, I set-up to go out for a drone-flight, and which point I found the NX2S. In my drink cooler bag. In the food freezer. Where it had been for at least 5 or 6 months.
The NX2S, after it thawed out, still worked flawlessly. Major points to Topping for making a product that could survive being food frozen.
Sadly, the tale of how I got the NX4 through the courtesy and kindness of a stranger who probably just wanted me to shut up about my missing NX2S, is all I really have to say on the product itself.
I had really moved away from carrying wired headphones with me as Anker's Soundcore Vortex cans delivered an acceptable music quality over Bluetooth, and a Zorloo ZuperDAC-S had arrived literally day after the the NX4. (Despite having been ordered like a month before when I couldn't find the NX2S). So for most of the cases where I might run out of battery or be playing a game where wired performance might be preferable, I wound up using the Zorloo.
For all the NX4's bragging rights in audio processing, it's massive battery, it's superior physical inputs over the NX2S, I can't think of a time that I actually, personally, used it.
Despite that, it's the DAC/Amp that sits in the same bag with my Velodyne Aluminum reference cans. I think, maybe, if there were a version that didn't have separate USB input and USB charging ports, and just did everything over a single Type C... I'd happily plunk that cash down today.
So, why would I recommend this to a friend, if it's not quite the product that I'd want to buy? Well, partially it's because I accidentally stress tested the build quality of it's older cousin. That's a huge selling point for somebody who wants a reliable product that can take incidental abuse. It's also because I like the tactile feedback of the physical controls. I can't claim that this was the best priced DAC/Amp, or the best performing of it's class, or any other high accolade. I can claim that it's one I do trust to work when I need it to.

Excellent, I can hear the great measurements
This was an upgrade from the FiiO Kunlun-E18 for me. I was keen to get this after the fella at Audio Science Measurements gave this a high review as the best-performing portable DAC-amp. I can hear the improvement. I have used these mostly with the Etymotic Research ER4XR headphones, and occasionally with the Beyerdynamic DT880's (250ohm). With the Etys I can hear the low noise floor disappear into nothing. Dynamics have improved, and build and fit and finish is excellent.
My only wish is that they integrated a Bluetooth receiver into this, but I'll take better performance over BT.

happy with it
chose this over other options in this range because it can be used as just an amp. i didn’t want to override the dac in my dap, but i still like the idea of having the option; which is why i didn’t just get a straight headphone amp/boost device.
this is my first portable dac/amp, so i have no performance comps, but for what it claims to do, combined with the asking price, i couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase.
using with cowon p2 mkii, meze 99 noir & classics, sennheiser 6xx, and hifiman 400i (old) & 4xx; all get a little something extra from the nx4. most notable however, is the hifimans finally get the ass end they need to be a damn near perfect headphone in the $200+/- headphone range...in my opinion, of course.

Minor disappointments
After a day of use I've met the following issues:
- Had to manually download driver for Windows 10
- Provided USB-C to Micro-USB (yes, this product still has Micro-USB) is of a garbage quality, the cable had to be perfectly flat otherwise it wouldn't work. Had to find a replacement cable, everything works fine now.
- As already stated, dated Micro-USB

WatchywatchI just bought the first cable I was able to get my hands on from my local Tech shop. I believe any cable will do.
