Just a little heads up on my experience with the P50. Ordered it through amazon.ca because it was slightly cheaper. Worked very well for the first 10 days. I noticed the sound from my D50 was slightly clearer with a widened soundstage. I was happy. 10 days later, it would no longer power on. Communication with the seller (or Topping) takes a long time due to the time difference. Hard to even finish a conversation in one night since they take couple of hours to respond. By that time its 1am here. They told me to check the fuses in the back. One was burnt out. I put the spare in and it powered on, for about 5 seconds. Then power went back off, and I checked and that fuse was burnt out as well. And yes, the unit was on 115V mode, came like that and I never touched it. I asked for a replacement unit because I like the product and wanted to continue using it. At first they told me to ship it to someplace in Ontario Canada. I asked them to pay the shipping since this is a brand new unit. Then they said they will pay the shipping but I have to send it to China. Shipping costs are around $100-$150CAD (the unit is heavy). To which, they said they will "think about it" and get back to me. They said they would not send a replacement, but give me a refund, and that I could re-order it if I wanted. I am sure that drop.com probably has better return policy, but just wanted to give you a heads up of my experience with the P50, which is now a heavy paperweight. Still awaiting Topping's reply. Hopefully amazon.ca can get involved if it looks like nothing is happening on the return front.

MikeypasI've worked in audio engineering and hifi. Snake oil is a prevalent term precisely because there are people selling special power cables. Because reviewers will talk about digital audio interconnects as having a sound depending on which direction they are used. And because there are marketing campaigns which prevail upon the ignorance and disposable income of consumers. All audio gear breaks down into two broad categories; Clinical-flat-clean. Euphonic-rich-big. Either the designer was endeavoring to create a 'straight wire with gain' or they are intentionally adding harmonics and nonlinearity to make the output more appealing. One simplified way to look at this is to compare solid state to tube. The former being characterized for clean, low distortion and wide bandwidth. The latter for adding flavor to the program material in a beneficial way. This is of course not as clear cut. There are counter examples for both circuit types. But I think it is a useful starting point to consider. As far as snake oil, the laws of physics are immutable. A passive device can not actively distinguish one type of signal from another all other considerations such as bandwidth and amplitude being the same. (low jitter cables). Whether this power supply is snake oil I cannot say. It is actually very common for high spec pro equipment like mastering digital converters and preamps to have external, overbuilt power supplies. In many cases you can do better with a lab grade power supply. But those cost more than this does. I'm sure we can all agree that drawing on your CD's was hilarious.

CalaverasgrandeThere's too much bullshit out there when it comes to these peripherals, and the punters also 'hear' and improvement after adding something to their audio setup because they expect to after spending their hard earned $$$. Like one of the guy above said that the sound stage was wider and sound clearer. There's no evidence to suggest that a power supply should have any effect on how a DAC functions.

MikeypasSame thing here. Stopped being able to power my devices after 3 days. I really liked how it made my dac sound too.
