Just got mine in today. I'm not a keyboard expert per se, but here are my initial thoughts:
The finish on these is actually quite nice. I was expecting worse and these are really good (like, really). The color of the dark grey/black is a spot on match to the factory spacebar (100%). The texture is definitely a lot rougher, but I kind of like that. If you drive a stickshift car they sell "grippy" knobs that have a rougher texture for better grip. This reminds of me of that, and it feels quite good. I imagine that in time this will smooth out some and will wear rather nicely.
I also got the red spacebar, and that is the one I am using right now. The color is also almost (97%) spot on with the red control key that PFU sells in their "colored key set." The fit and finish on this is really nice with the same grippiness to it. Definitely pleased with both given the cost of the spacebars delivered.
If I had to nitpick on a few things I would say that the texture is still a bit rough for some. Maybe hitting it with a bit of Mr. Clear Magic Eraser will soften it some, although I am not going to risk that lol. Also another observation is that the key didn't snap onto the keyboard when installed. The plastic of the stem is thinner than the factory spacebar and the gap is a little bit bigger. We're talking fractions and fractions of a millimeter, but it's just an observation. The tabs on either side of the spacebar provide additional support and maybe with time the spacebar will get jammed in there, but it doesn't appear to be going anywhere for now.
If Massdrop can smooth out this spacebar just another 5% or so and tighten up the gap in the stem by making the thickness of the stem walls just a smidge thicker I think this would be an absolute carbon copy of the PFU product. Given the difficult nature of PBT I think this is a wonderful product and for the low cost (delivered) I would suggest Topre owners pick a few up just to have for the future or to spice up their keyboards.
