Comfort & Aesthetics in a Numpad

The heart of the Realforce Numpad lies in Topre’s patented electrostatic capacitive switches, which combine the best features of high quality mechanical models and the predominant rubber domes. The switch features a slider housed by a rubber dome over a conical, coiled spring and a printed circuit board, giving you the silent operation of rubber dome keys and the reliability of their mechanical counterparts. With only limited resistance coming from a soft tactile bump and individually weighted keys to keep a consistent feel, the famed numpad makes typing easier, and more satisfying.

Note: At checkout, choose either the Black or White keypad and one of six Realforce logo caps in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Red, and Yellow. Additionally, you have the choice of either the Topre Gray or Topre Red "Deal with it Jack." Bingecap key.

Deal with it Jack

Specially designed by keycap artisan Bingecap, the Topre caps—in either Gray or Red—feature a new version of Bingecaps famous “Smiling Jack” cap, appropriately named “Deal with it Jack.” From Bingecap, “The Red Skull variant is meant to match the deep red 'A' in the Realforce logo, and the Gray Skull was a nod to the silvery gray realforce lettering on the black Realforce.” These caps come packaged in a manilla envelope exclusively screen printed by Bingecap himself. In addition to that, complete your numpad with one of six Realforce logo caps in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Red, and Yellow.

From Bingecap Himself,

Deal with it, Jack is my take on the well-known skull key designs. Anyone who has looked into artisans will see this familiar piece of anatomy looking back at them if they collect enough, long enough. Click Clack, Ducky Nordic, Krap, and others have all made their own skull. I named my first iteration of the skull Smiling Jack. He had a bit of skin, enough to show a toothy grin, but his time in production was limited to less than 2 months. My topre artisans, as a whole, were not very popular at the time so reluctantly his mold was retired to make more MX keycaps.

Here's a link to a picture of Smiling Jack if you'd care to look.

A few weeks ago I was approached by Massdrop with an opportunity to work on a special Topre key. Coincidentally I have received e-mails for the greater part of this past year requesting new Smiling Jacks and saw the opportunity to show how my techniques have improved in sculpting and casting. With this drop 'Deal with it, Jack' is born! He's lost some skin, it decomposed... deal with it, Jack. He's still grinning and happier than ever to be sporting some stylish shades.

Key components to his revision like a reinforced stem for longevity and thicker walls customary to high quality cast resin keys were my first improvements.  The design is purposefully profile ambiguous which means the key may placed on both the top row or used as a FN key without being visually distracting.  With my best intentions he is also comfortable to touch. Like the original Smiling Jack the new Jack is a minimalistic design, and I feel that resonates with the sensibilities of Topre Realforce aesthetics. The red Jack variant is meant to match the deep red 'A' in the Realforce logo, and the gray Jack is a nod to the silvery gray Realforce lettering on Topre's black model keyboards and number pads.

To all of my supporters and any new fans thank you for seeing me to this point.  My wife and I appreciate being able to share our passion for artisan keycaps with you.  Please enjoy our special packaging and these exclusive keys made possible in collaboration with our friends at Massdrop.
