Can you throw sparks of the spine on any of the versions? I know the coated ones won't but what about the tumbled or satin finish blades?

You can remove the spine coating. Great knives.

Interesting ,it says in the description the pommel is used for striking sparks and there are three fire rods in the sheath .Has anyone here used them this way?

It's 2 magnesium rods and one ferro rod glue together. It's pretty convenient.
As for the knife, it has a notch on the pommel to scrape fire steel. Once you learn how to use it, it's extremely easy and better in my opinion than using the back of a blade.
