If I had nothing better in a survival situation, I'd try to lash it in a notched piece of hardwood for a handle. The gained length might make it useful as a tiny chopper.
If I knew more about what the designer taught, I might be more impressed, but it really seems to be a "solution looking for a problem," as the late, great Col. Jeff Cooper used to say.

I have seen this before and was severely underwhelmed. Not trusting my own judgment when I saw this here today, I looked at BladeForums. Here is what phantomknives had to say, " i mostly have an issue with it because you can make it with an angle grinder and get it heat treated for less than 125.a 1 foot square of 1/8th inch 1075 is about 30 bucks on the internet. harbor freight angle grinder's 20 with disks and a blow torch is about 29 bucks. after that, just find some bricks. now, you'v saved 46 dollars and have a ton of left over steel to make what ever you want " He didn't seem very impressed either. I feel better about my original impression now. I have TOPS pig killer, I think it's aptly named the Wild Bore Hunter. It was about $99. It's a very nice knife. I have yet to go hunting wild bores with it. I would sure rather be carrying that than this micro Hoax if trouble came knocking.

A 2” cutting edge is far from useful for chopping, 99/100 people will miss or smash their knuckles when they use this to chop. If this drop had a drop, that then had another drop this would still be too much at $40... it’s a tiny piece of steel. A dumbass designed this for self defence as well. Enlighten me, how is this not inferior in every way to any legal length blade for that purpose? As useless in the bush as it is in the street with the side benefit of “man attacks man wih hatchet,” when you make the evening news... Even with this thing being Barbie playhouse sized, that’s what your doing When using this for “self defence”.

I imagined a lot of use for it akin to a push knife, for carving and the like. My first thought when seeing it was hey that would make a bomb proof small fixed blade. It also is much friendlier with my states carry laws given its lack of length.
I am also a huge design nerd though and the unique and interesting factors were definitely at play, still I see it as a functional piece in its own right.

I imagine it would. The length is shorter than most of my throwing knives. It’s an odd, stubby chunk of steel. May feel more as if you’re throwing a small plant with its root-ball a-swingin’....or maybe like throwing an oddly-shaped rock?

Really? "great" is the word we're going with here? For a 2" blade at the end of 5" of handle, in a piece that weights 11oz, handle included?

It's an interesting little piece, I'll give it that. But for what it is (the steel, the size, the amount of work that goes into making it), at THAT price? I'm not seeing the value here, anyone wanna enlighten me?

You guys are missing the obvious - remember the Darwin Awards? Products like these, oh so appealing and covered in sharp edges.... easy to make a mistake, and whoops! there's one fewer mall ninja who's gonna have kids.
