It is hard for me to whip up any enthusiasm for this one. I have an Ontario SP10 Marine Raider. It is the same steel taken a couple of points up on the HRC scale. It is longer. It is 2 oz. lighter. And it's 75% less than this one. Perhaps the reason I can't get starry eyed about this one is because my idea of roughing it is a 2 star motel or a really long line at Kroger's. I can lose my car in the Home Depot parking lot.

I love Tops knives and outdoor / bush-craft items in general, but I think a tracker purchase would be more based on wanting the movie prop than wanting this actual knife. (I don't really agree with the creators use philosophy and it could have been designed much more functional and lighter in weight).
I guess I am looking at the non-camo versions, you are right, the camo versions are $240. I can't tell anything different from them other than paint on the blade, am I missing something?
I won't deny that these make a terrible knife for normal knife things, if you need a hatchet these are surprisingly effective... Not as effective as an actual hatchet but still surprisingly effective for a piece of 1/4" thick steel.
SchuylerAny larger chopper with a decent high flat grind will perform better than the Tracker in a hatchet role, and will have the added benefit of also being able to cut things as normal knives do. The Tracker really is the worst of both worlds.
It's a movie knife, and it works best looking cool on screen. Not so much with the actual using it in the real world thing.
