Have a removable-cable IEM that you want to make fully wireless? The TRN BT20S Bluetooth 5.0 Module Adapter, improved from the BT20, allows you to do just that Read More
HammerabiHow do I pair the left, only the left? My right IEM that connects to the BT adapter is in the shop for repairs.
how do I pair using only the left?
I compared it with my wired rigs: Cowon Plenue 1/2/D/V, and even the simplest and cheapest Plenue D outperforms it significantly in terms of sound quality. You do understand that different DAC/AMP/circuitry results in different sound. Now, what exactly is used inside TRN? Some outdated CSR all-in-one codec with mediocre specs at most. And there's no problem with build quality in my unit - the problem is with audio engineering quality in this model.
ToxicTRN BT20s' aren't for golden eared audiophiles like you presumably are. They are perfectly fine for everyone else on the planet with a sub-$50 budget and for that they do just fine.
You shouldn't be expecting them to outperform any separate DACs as they aren't even near that high budget or in the same league, these are sub $50 BT adaptors and they outperform most if not all Chi-fi truly wireless buds. You shouldn't be expecting anything less, and you most certainly shouldn't be expecting anything more from these, especially at this ridiculously low price point.
The one on Amazon (in the above link) is the previous model: no aptX, not water resistant, less battery life, different finish, and perhaps other less obvious differences. One seller on AliExpress does have the current model (with the S at the end) for about $12. less. The Drop is competitive with everyone else though. FYI.
I'm not aware of any myself, aptX is rare enough. The higher bitrate codecs draw more power (in particular LDAC at it's highest quality) which is problematic as many already struggle with usable battery life. I'm in the camp that is waiting for this niche to mature a bit, until then I will suffice with the ES100 and my wired sets.
Currently there are no Truly Wireless Earbuds or equivalent earhooks like the TRN BT20s that supports APTXHD.
We need to shake this up and encourage TRN to use the QCC 5xxx series to make some truly awesome noise cancelling, local speech enhancing, sound adapting (like Samsung Adapt Sound™) earhooks to be the flagship model of their BT20 line of earhook IEM adaptor products. This Qualcom QCC 5xxx ASIC is awesome.
If you guys try aliexpress it's even cheaper:

I've never bought a pair but i've ran into them while researching for BT adapters.
EDIT: This isn't the right model, Refer to my reply for the correct one!
They're $32 here - https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/kxVe9gqc
You should check AliExpress before buying anything on here. Same exact product just removing drop (and their terrible support, shipping, communication, etc) as the middle man.
You can buy these through Ali Express cheaper so why would you even consider Drop for these? I got these a few weeks ago even though they are not even listed on the TRN website. They are available in plentiful quantities and you'll get them around the same time as if you ordered from Drop anyway. In fact my delivery was actually much faster as they were shipped direct as soon as the retailer regained stock of them.
The noise floor is really terrible even though I can barely hear it, that's no achievement as I have tinnitus and anyone without tinnitus will most definitely notice the noise floor without tinnitus masking it. Sometimes the noise floor breaks through my tinnitus and I notice it a little, although it's not bad for me but I can't say this for anyone else.
If you have tinnitus then these are a steal from Ali Express, they are a very capable Bluetooth 5 implementation with very long life after a full charge. The sound quality is amazing above the low-ish noise floor. I can't understand why these have this noise floor when things like the Samsung truly wireless Galaxy Buds do not. If you don't have tinnitus, don't bother.
