AddictedGamerSPI eventually received my shipment (delivered Yesterday). Haven't had a change to open it up to see if it's the old or new version of the TT3.0 but I'll try to remember to post again once I've had a chance to look.
sMACkSorry, didn't get a chance to open the box and set it up until last night. It seems it is definitely the older design with the ugly TT logo, so the original 3.0. The box was well packed and shipped okay. However, the TT instructions were sparse. Corsair does a 10x better job of explaining and diagramming how to setup the unit. Frankly, the goofy two piece design that they have is kind of wonky. Definitely made the process harder to setup than the Corsair type units (which I have a few of already). I haven't powered it on yet to play with the lights or see how loud it is, but I expect it'll be similar to other models on the market. Still waiting on some components (such as my Optane drive) to come in yet before I finish this build.
AddictedGamerSPI'll also throw this opinion out there also. As much as everyone harps on the Corsair units, I will have to say they also have another nice feature. The barbs for the inlet and outlet come out ON TOP of the CPU as opposed to hanging off the side like in the TT. This makes installation and placement on motherboards that have tight spacing around the CPU much, much easier. With the barbs coming off the side like in the TT unit, you have to plan how to place the unit on your board.
AddictedGamerSPThe barbs don't even extend past the mounting cpu mounting holes NOTHING should be in this space no matter how cramped the board, it's pretty much hallowed ground within that space. As for the "goofy two piece design" what are you reffering to?
ZatarotUmm... do you even own this product? The barbs extend WELL pass the CPU mounting area. I can provide pictures if you like. In addition, the CPU clip for holding the assembly down is a two piece assembly that snaps together on the top and bottom of the CPU pad. This is all one piece on the newer Corsair models (and responding to you Atomkinder yes, it seems that it depends on certain models).
AddictedGamerSPTo add additional information, the TT assembly uses a plastic clip on the bottom to hold the metal press bar down on the plastic cover for the CPU. Honestly, the plastic feels pretty flimsy. It works, but it just feels so delicate that given the average pressure applied to hold the cooler down on the CPU and the angular weight of the barbs and hoses coming off the side, that it doesn't look like it would last.
Not saying that it won't. Just that it feels just a little too delicate and could use some beefing up.
ZatarotLook, here's the deal. The barbs come off the side and 'angle' upward. What the picture doesn't describe, is the size of the entire TT cooler heat-sink/CPU unit, which is MUCH larger than the CPU. This means that even though the barbs come off the side and point upward, they are OUTSIDE of the vaunted CPU zone.
This is my last post on this topic. Believe whatever the f*** you want. I'm looking at it here on my Asus Z270 Strix mATX motherboard, and it is most definitely outside the vaunted 'CPU' area.
AddictedGamerSPWhatever, then why don't you simply just provide pics of the cooler interfering with other components as you claim. Where are the pics that you said that you would provide.
