I keep seeing the phrase "virtual surround sound". Do these not have real 7.1 surround sound?

T4h3rSoftware-emulated 7.1 sound. Real 7.1 is when you have 7 speakers (which you can't, well can't do properly with only two places to put them) and one subwoofer. Real 7.1 provides a better atmosphere, while software 7.1 is worse for obvious reasons.
Edit: It depends on the user, some people say it's amazing, some say it's just a gimmick.

Drako1112Ah... I thought so. Probably trash just like all the other fake surround sound, there's only so much software can do. Making 2 speakers sound like 7 (8, really) isn't one of them. Buyer beware.

nickgiarraputoI am not saying that your opinion is invalid, but I've previously had a pair of similar headphones by Philips. They were absolutely amazing and it felt almost as if it were real surround sound.

Drako11127.1 surrond sound on gaming headphones is a gimmick it does not require more drivers! These gaming headphones do little for immersion. As a Computer gamer a good soundcard/box or any surround sound system like the logitech z506 will blow these away guaranteed.
