I have one of these. and linked to my review above.
The short version: It's a good little knife from the guy who designed the Cebu. It's got a smooth flip and the blade apertures aren't just there for looks -- they give you a multiplicity of different ways to open the knife. Good knife steel, well milled scales, close tolerances. If you're looking for a smooth handled 'cleaver' style folder with strong ergos and excellent balance, not too big, not too small, with enough heft to it that you will find it easy to get a good grip on it, this is a great pickup with the same excellent build quality you associate with Tuyaknife. And with all the different ways to open the knife and hold it, it ends up being kinda fun on top of everything else.
Bonus: this is as good of a price as I've ever seen for the Kostoba.
TurkSSorry folks after the last Dop failed to attract enough, i bought it directly from Tuya. It is a very attractive little piece , the steel came sharp and i have zer0 complaints about it. My normal EDC carry for a smaller unit.
Hey guys, the designer of this knife is Michael Etorma, he may have designed one with bestech too I’m not sure but I know he has a few out there, he also designed the Tuya Cebu. Thx everyone for your support !
the Kostoba was designed by Michael Etorma of Storm knives, he also designed our very popular “Cebu” it’s a bit larger. I’m not sure if he designed that bestech knife but He does have several other designs with other companies. Please if you have any questions about Tuya let me know.
From a guy on this site who is a million times more insightful than me. Look for Reswright. He has a lot of really long detailed posts throughout and is pretty knowledgeable. He has a great thread about Chinese knifes that has pointed me in the direction of a lot of really nice quality blades.
I've had a Factor Absolute small (~3.125" version of the Shuriken, all titanium) for a few years and I like it, it's very well made and as odd a design as it is everything feels good in hand
