Great product, I've got a couple of these. That I got on Sierra Trading Post for $3.99 apiece, totaling $7.98 for exactly what's being offered here. Come on, Massdrop.

ProPhoto_56401Agreed. The pricing of some of Massdrop's recent stuff has been utterly nonsensical, seemingly making Massdrop like virtually every other vendor vs something special. Either this is a special community that yeilds some pricing benefit of massing together, or its another Sierra Trading Post/Moosejaw/EMS clone. Shipping is also a HUGE pet peeve to me (ie this NEEDS to be on the FRONT PAGE WITH THE COST OF THE ITEM as the shipping costs often make the item non-competitive in price), cost to ship 1, $3.75, cost to ship 2 $7.75, so the incremental cost of buying an extra one is more than buying individually? Come on...

123zornI hopped on the Morakniv Bushcraft Survival / 511 drop a few weeks ago. Not only did I get an e-mail from them (a day before the drop was supposed to ship) saying that the orange-handled 511 I picked wasn't even available so I had to pick another model- the drop got shipped a week later than "expected", and now the shipping is late en route. And to add insult to injury even further, both the Morakniv Bushcraft Survival and 511 were offered on Amazon IN THE MEANTIME just before Christmas for less than the price offered on Massdrop, with obviously free 2-day Prime shipping.

If you’re looking for one of the best fire starter kits spend the $37 for the Zombie Tinder kit. Would love to see that here with a better price.

So do these ship internationally or not? The blue box below the description says Canada & US only, yet at the top where it says 'Join Drop' it also states 'Ships to GB'. Which is it?

Not even $10 from dolphin scuba au on ebay, whom I highly recommend, I found these guys to have the cheapest prices and I'm buy UCO gear from AU. I have many UCO firecraft products. Check them out, good coomunication and good value for money even in AUD. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UCO-Titan-Stormproof-Match-Kit-/152945240640?hash=item239c3f2a40

LOL, why would I get a waterproof container for a BIC? Maybe you're focusing on the wrong attribute? Look, I've used a long handle trigger BIC before and its mostly very good - even maybe my preferred use since its so simple. BUT, in windy, colder conditions, I do find it hard to get a flame sometimes, making for multiple clicks. In those conditions, these matches are much more reliable.
FWIW, I don't like the stormproof matches for regular use as the flame ends up halfway down the stick in a short period of time. I do include some regular household matches in my "container" which I end up using most of the time. BIC-type is a bit easier, but I like having the length of the match to protect my hands. You do have to keep a dry striker handy.

scopeSame answer to the question on why you would have a waterproof container for matches? The multiple clicks issue just tells me you dont have wind protection, defective unit, flint almost running out, or the Bic was slightly moist, etc. Growing up in a tropical country I know that much and can be avoided.
But I concede your point on the convenience. But that would be a personal choice.
We can go around in circles in our responses as we dig deeper into the details but essentially there are ways to make or buy your own fire making kit to achieve the same results, just depends on our ingenuity or the convenience.
Much respect to you Sir. Have a great day.
