This one against Steinberg UR12 (ignore the software or the extra connexions), general use, gaming, music lover? God match for a ATH-M50x?
Txs!

ATH-M50X will see almost no benefit from a DAC. They have low ohm impedance and, but they play very accurate to what the sound is. At this price range I would say sure because I wouldn't pay more for an expensive DAC that will show no benefit at all. I'm also considering this drop for my ATH-M50X.

I just want to step up from the onboard RealtekHD, with some music creation in mind (nothing profi).

This should be a great option. I put the impedence into a calculator and the sensitivity and this is more than enough power to drive the pair. I think it is one of the best options maybe at the price. I would check out some subreddits or other audiophile websitez if you want further verification.

Right now, I have in my visor, Steinberg UR12 (open for something similar, like Focusrite Scarlet Solo, or Presonus iOne), good for making and for listening music! A DAC might take me closer to what I want, without spending a fortune before I know in what direction I will go with making music ( I am familiar with FL Studio and Reason, I started to learn something about Cubase and StudioOne), but more important that that, I listen tons of music!
