Hi, can anyone tell me if this nifty little thing can do dual output? Specifically, I'm asking whether it can output audio to both the headphone jack in front and the coaxial in the back at the same time. If you're wondering why, it's because I want to switch between my desktop speakers and my headphones on the fly without switching the audio source on Windows, and/or unplugging either audio devices. Any replies would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

OpenRedYes, you can do that. You can keep the speakers plugged in and once you plug in your headphones, then the uDac will automatically switch over to the headphone jack. And once you unplug the headphone jack, the music will be outputted through the rca outputs to your speakers.

dwang040Well, thanks for the reply. However, what I meant was dual output at the same time. Meaning audio is being output to both the headphones and the speakers, no priority whatsoever. But based on your reply, I guess the NuForce uDAC-3 can't do it. Thanks!

OpenRedOops sorry xd. But yeah you're correct. You can't do both at the same time. Headphone jack will always be prioritized over the rca outputs.

OpenRedI've wished for this ever since I got my udac1 over a decade ago. It would be nice to see how its sounds with open headphones with speakers playing as well but I guess I've to look elsewhere for that.

AnjanakrishnanI guess your best bet would be to find a splitter cable. As far as I'm aware, there aren't many amps (especially on this site) that will allow you to do both headphones and speakers at the same time. Of course, most of the amps that I've looked at on this site usually do one output at a time. I should also add that some motherboards allow for dual outputs (one for the front audio port and one for the rear) so depending on how intricate the audio setup is, I guess you could try that. headphones on the front with the rear io connected to your dac or to the speakers straight.

AnjanakrishnanA little late to the reply. But I'm currently using the Schiit Fulla 2 at home, and it can do dual output at the same time. Or priority based, like the uDAC-3, up to you. It's been great so far. Been using the uDAC-3 for the office, and that's been great too. Both have a slightly different sound, so I say it's up to you, which you prefer.
