How close is this in color to the red K7XX?
I currently own both, and i can tell you that the akg k7xx red edition is slightly darker then the dac/amp. Even though it looks quite bright in the akg pictures, it really is not that bright.
Can you please post a picture if you have one? Also, how is the sound? Thanks!
I can say alot of good things about the k7xx, all positive infact. But the udac-3 is pretty average. It has had reported issues from customers across the world, and i can see why they complain. The main issue for me is where it turns its self on and off without me doing anything, so in all honesty i would stay away from this product and get something where you can hear the difference in sound, as well as something that is well made. (i personally got it because it was gonna look good with my setup, but i was left with a big burning hole in my pocket). I will have to post the pictures later on during the daytime for me, so stay tuned.
Thanks! Any recommendations for a good amp or amp/DAC combo? I don't mind the looks as long as they don't clash.
This is the best picture I could get. I personally don't have a great camera. But if you look closely the k7xx is slightly darker, and the amp is a shiney and brighter red. As for recomendations i can tell you the ones i have heard good things about.
Grace design m9xx, & Creative sound blaster series - but to be honest they are pricey. The one I personally wish I got is the CEntrance DACport - well made, good customer support and reliable as well had having good reviews. But let me finish by saying that the cutting out issue only appily for me with the udac3. So you can take a risk if you want because it's cheaper than when I got it. So it's an ok option for the money at this point in time.
This is a dac and headphone amp all-in-one
I got the Centrance DACport Slim, which just dropped again. I'm loving it.
I was on the fence with this, in the end I went with UDAC-3 because I could not stand those volume wheel that only poke out on the edge a tiny bit.
My coworker had a SMSL M2 (similar type volume wheel) and I absolutely hated the volume wheel, it's too hard to adjust. If only Centrance can fix that on next iteration then I think it would be perfect.
