No way I drop this kind of $ before trying. Many high end audio shops have testers for many items at this price point and sometimes deal in used ones at considerably lower price. Also many hi fi sites with people selling high end at good prices.

Buy a pair of Jerry Harvey if your gonna spend $900 on 3 armatures, get 6 or more for another $200

BET605Once you get to buying iem’s above $250 it becomes more about tuning vs driver count. I’ve heard plenty of multi-driver iem’s that just don’t sound coherent or balanced.

Would be nice if Drop could have UE use the 'Capitol Records' logo on these instead of the generic 'UE' in a box, which is nicer than the old UE script IMO. But if I remember correctly there were a couple of buyers on a previous drop that were told the Capitol Records logo would be used, but ended up with the UE logo.... Then what do you do? Suck it up....

I'm a 70y.o. rocker from the 60's. Will the Reference really be a substantial improvement over the UE Triple Fi 10's I've had for years?

ctw2450Those are classics and the first good IEMs I owned. They started it all for me. But yes, to answer your question. As great as they were back in the day, they are outclassed by even a few pairs of $200 IEMS I have. I actually prefer my Thieaudio Legacy 2's at $99. Check out the Thieaudio Monarch or Clairvoyance. They can be found for about $600. The Monarch MKII is even better, but IMHO not worth $400 more than the original. Or the DUNU SA6 is another favorite of mine at $550. Moondrop Blessing 2 is wonderful at about $200. They just came out with the 3 this week that I'm waiting on reviews for. It's about $230. It looks like they addressed the slight lack of bass/sub-bass of the 2s

Does this use their proprietary(ish) IPX connector or a more standard 2-pin or MMCX?
