I received mine earlier this week and have listened to them for a few hours. The audio quality lives up to its claim. The build quality/the way it was put together though.. there's what looks like a hot glue mess to keep the drivers in place and a gluey mess sealing all around the edge sealing the black UE part to the casing. Is it just mine or are they all like this?

BlizzieSame here. And the chrome looking plate thing has really sharp edges on mine, it cuts into my ear. I cannot wear these for more than 10 minutes. In terms built quality and comfort, these are one of the worst I have experienced. It is shame, because I quite like the sound of these...

rookie007If the chrome cover cuts into your ear, try either one size smaller ear tips or the "squishy" version of the same one's that you are using. It worked for me after I experienced the same discomfort. Good luck. These are nice earphones.

jmhuebneThe smaller tips actually did help a little bit. But after half an hour it still hurts really bad. Maybe my outer ear is smaller than average? Still I think the build is really not acceptable for the price. I can literally use mine to carve a piece of wood! I am not even joking...

rookie007The smallest "memory foam" plugs worked for me. Just be sure to roll the tips between your fingers before you insert into your years (they will expand inside your ear canal, giving a tight seal).

rookie007My metal edges definitely don't jut out or cause discomfort. Maybe contact Massdrop for a replacement?

BlizzieI think they are all like this..? Just opened my set and checked, both sides looks similar to the photo you posted. Audio quality is there no doubt, and I know its a plastic shell but for the price I expected a better finishing. The glue marks that seals the black part to the blue shell makes it look really cheap...

BlizzieUE build quality is really sloppy compared to their sound quality. My first BA iem was the superfi 5 EB with amazing bass and soundstage. As I was trying to detach the cable, the whole frame broke exposing the interior wirings. Good that it was covered by the retailer's return policy. I then got another white superfi 5 EB again, this time the cable covering cap felt off without even detaching the cable. Never again will I buy earphones with poor build quality no matter how good the sound and the discount is.
