It's a go! The order for the The Ultimate Hammock Single and Strap Bundle was placed just after the drop came to an end. Now our vendor will be working hard to prepare it for shipment to each of you.
As soon as we receive word from the vendor about the shipping schedule, we will update you all with that information.
Look forward to another update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 11/11 or earlier if anything comes up.

Is the weight limit due to the straps or is it for the hammock itself?

The pictures show it hanging from string around the trees - that's not cool! but I see the text later mentions that, and at least the package includes straps which would protect the tree from damage. I'm curious about the fabric they are using for the hammock. Anyone who frequents Hammock Forums will want more details than this drop or their website provides.

slbearare you kidding me? Damage the tree? I've seen trees hit by lightning and split in have that still live for many many years. Hurt the tree, hahaha. A tree would probably sustain the same amount of damage from you hugging it.

OkieneckMost people are not aware that the most important part of the trunk of a tree is right under the bark. That's where the nutrition and the moisture travel up to the branches and leaves. compare to hang 150 lb - 350 lb to the tree, try 15 lb with your arm (assuming you have tough skin) the tension constrict your circulation is very different when you use flat belt vs. round fish line. Just saying.

You can get a single layered hand made Made in the USA hammock from Dutchwear for $35 (http://www.dutchwaregear.com/11-ft.-netless-hammocks.html). Add any of the suspensions or buy your own, and that's all you'll need.
I own 3 hammocks of different makes and models and the only one I've returned is the Byer of Maine Moskito Kakoon Hammock that was recently offered in a drop here. I got it for $55 from REI, took it out once, mosquito netting ripped. Of course, REI took it back, no questions. I've replaced it with the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Hammock, available for $59 right now on Amazon and the build quality is much better, mosquito netting wasn't flimsy, and everything you need is included in the purchase.

What are the advantages of this hammock over the $17 ones I can get with amazon prime? Looks almost identical

sold for $29.95 + free shipping on Amazon includes carabiners, and straps are sold separately for $9.99 + free shipping (not prime eligible) so for those in USA for example, not really a steal.

Vague description here and on the Ultimate Hammock website. What are the dimensions of the hammock? What is the weight of the hammock? What denier is the fabric?

matthewkphxI've added the dimensions to the Specs, which were admittedly a bit sparse for us too. The hammock is 9' x 5' (measured at the midpoint). The hammock itself weighs 14.2 ounces, and each carabiner weighs 1 oz. The carabiners are load bearing, but at that weight, would be a cheap and easy upgrade to drop the weight.
I'll update again when I find the weight of the straps, and the denier fabric used. Thanks for pointing this out @matthewkphx and others.
