I just received mine and I can confirm that it does not come with a 10440 rechargeable battery. It only comes with an alkaline battery. What is the point of shipping with an usb charge module if it does not come with a 10440 battery.

Is the USB recharge module for 10440 Li-ion and/or Ni-MH batteries? A: The USB recharge module is for 10440 Li-ion, but NOT for Ni-MH battery. Q4. What is the order of brightness of the UI? Since Massdrop isn't responding with any answers unfortunately, it looks like Amazon will get my business since they have a bundle that includes the torch, a 10440 Lithium battery , the rechargeable module, and a diffuser cap for $29.89 with prime right now. Only downside is that this bundle is only available in black.
