My overall impression: Reliably gets the job done on the daily

I purchased the DFR-8 and it has performed reliably well on both my workday commutes (~45mins) as well as in-the-city errands and what not. Naturally, there are false positives, but this is primarily related to “city” mode, whereas on interstates, highways, and freeways these are usually limited to obvious markers such as speed detection signs, tollbooths, and the like. I have found this unit to be much more reliable and user friendly than other similarly priced models and therefore would recommend the purchase.

Amazing

This is fairly cheap and it works like a charm. In my opinion this is the best bang for buck radar detector. The performance is about as good as you'll ever need from a non-stealth detector. Once you disable the "K" band you will never get a false positive. I've never had false positives, and I've never had it miss a cop. it gives me a huge heads up before I'm upon them and works well. Definitely has gotten its money worth in saving me from more than one speeding ticket.
