One of these would be harder to use these days because many newer cars use radar in their forward collision avoidance systems. My big rig throws false positives to radar detectors too. And there are radar units measuring traffic all over anyway. About the only time you could use one is during the night on a very rural road. And the police use Vascar anyway. But maybe I'm missing the point and the tech has been advancing in these detectors too. I just use Waze like everyone else.

Mine arrived today (Virginia :-) USA). Can't comment on it yet, haven't used it. But for anyone else interested in hard-wiring it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BBVC7JQ

I have the Uniden DFR 7 in my truck and the Uniden R3 in my car. Both are great, at this price I’m going to get a DFR9 for the wife. All of them are worth every penny, especially at these prices. (Who am I kidding, I’ll probably give the DFR 7 to the wife and put the DFR9 in my truck) I wouldn’t bother with the DFR8, it doesn’t have GPS, that’s half the reason these are so appealing. Uniden’s Radar detectors are very high-quality, they release firmware updates based on user feedback which are free, and they are also one of the best at filtering out false alarms. ( I could go on, point is they make good shit)

I have the DFR7. Outstanding performance. The DFR9 is the upgraded/updated version and considered one of the BEST radar detectors out there and at this price, this is an incredible deal. Amazon has it for $239. Buydig has it for $329. $199 is by far the BEST PRICE I've seen. GET ON THIS!!!

How does this compare to the Valentine One detector?

jrhslickThe Valentine One is in a different price range and is even more ultra-premium than the DFR9. More accurate comparison would be to the NEWEST Uniden model (R7). That said, I've read that for the price difference the DFR7 and DFR9 are the best buys now. Both the DFR7 and DFR9 have GPS functionality which the other models for sale on this drop do not have.

me0wmixI live in VA, too, but I pulled the trigger anyway, as I frequently drive in NC. The DFR7 is effectively "stealth" based on the Vortex review someone posted earlier, which made it a much easier decision, as if I happen to use it here, it won't be detected. And thank God for Waze for us RD-less Virginians!

buydig.com periodically has it on sale for $129 with free shipping. This is a discontinued model with questionable future firmware updates.
semkaWhat would you need a firmware update for?
