To anyone who's on the fence: Best RD I've ever used (R3), and I come from a lifetime of Escort/Passport use...all the way back to the original analog Escort. I'm no expert, but I do have a lot of RD experience. These Unidens are super customizable and the range is incredible. There are enough settings to tweak that you can really cut down on the false hits...except those damn Acura/Honda BSM hits!! I definitely recommend the R3 for the benefits of what the GPS can bring (RLC alerts, SpeedCam Alerts, etc). So far, Uniden has been very attentive to users' feedback and firmware updates. Had mine for about a year. Hardwired and mounted on rear-view with a RadarMount (because I figured I'd try it before dropping all that extra dough on a BlendMount). I have no complaints whatsoever regarding the mount. I put a double-layer of electrical tape (the good Super33+ stuff) around the mirror arm (stud?), which gives the clamp a little extra bite, is not at all noticeable, and protects the finish. The RD doesn't vibrate or move at all. The Blendmount is undoubtedly nicer in terms of overall build quality, but I can't reconcile it being 70-something bucks nicer. I didn't use a mirror tap because I run a dashcam that I'd already wired to into my fuse panel, so I just vampire-tapped that feed and pulled power from there. Anyway, can't say enough good stuff about Uniden or the R3. Updating the firmware is a little clunky, but it's not the end of the world. If you buy, make sure you find Vortex's tips/tricks/recommended settings.
