A DSP accelerator and dedicated set of processing chips for plug-ins, the Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt packs a whole lot of power into a small package. It plugs directly into your computer and performs in-unit audio processing for improved performance with reduced plug-in latency. Both models—the Quad with four SHARC processors, and the Octo with eight—allow you to capture the sound of classic analog equipment using plug-ins in the included Analog Classics Plus bundle, as well as from a range of popular brands like Ampex, Neve, and Manley (sold separately).
Note: This drop’s base price is for the UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt Quad. At checkout, you’ll have the option to upgrade to the Octo (+ $450). Please note that both versions require a Thunderbolt cable (not included). The Analog Classics Plus bundle features legacy editions of LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176 Classic Limiter Amplifiers, Pultec EQP-1A, Pultec Pro, Fairchild 670, 610-B Tube Preamp, and more.
Compact and simple to use, this device has two Thunderbolt ports on the rear panel for connecting to your Mac and other UA audio interfaces, along with a four-pin XLR connection for your power supply. The front panel is clean as can be, with a lighted logo and “HOST” display to indicate power and successful connectivity. The bottom line? For producers and mixers on the go, the Satellite Thunderbolt offers a level of performance that can’t be supplied natively by a portable computer.
