What does it mean by "500 charge cycles per life time"?

filphilIt means after 500 complete discharges of the battery - it will most likely die. My old battery said that it would be practically unlimited if not entirely discharged. Mine has lasted much longer than my husbands. Not sure if that is still true of this model.

SabrinaSupporting 500 cycles is reasonably consistent with the behaviour of Lithium ion batteries. The Tesla cars operate on Li ion cells, and they need to get replaced eventually.
500 cycles is consistent with usual manufacturer claims; it is commonly that after 500 cycles, one may expect capacity to fall to 80%, hence, for this unit, about 15000 mAh.
I imagine the unit has 5 or 6 18650 cells inside, so it is conceivable that one could crack it open and replace cells. Mind you, I also imagine that this pack would be in dodgy shape by then due to rattling around knapsacks and such, and that better may be available in 5 years.
