Slightly off topic, but I thought I'd throw this in as potentially useful info for people looking for this kind of thing: My dark-brown facial hair grows in very fast so that I have to shave every day, and I also have extremely sensitive skin. Razor burn used to be a perennial problem for me. The best shave I've ever had I've only discovered in the past year, and it's very simple:
First, I shave IN the shower. I do it last, so the warm water has had a chance to precondition my skin.
Second, I use Dove body wash (liquid soap) to do it (I use something I like better for washing). I also smear a little on the mirror and then rinse it to keep it from fogging up during my shave. (I haven't tried the Urth cream sold on this page, but I've tried many other kinds of soap, as well as shaving gel, shaving foam, olive oil, and coconut oil, and none of them give me nearly as close a shave.)
Third, I use a disposable safety razor (double-bladed), and make sure to replace it on the 1st of every month. (I recently ordered a Standard Razor set from MD, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I can't make comparisons yet.)
The results? Baby-butt cheeks that don't require more than 2-3 passes of the razor, and no more razor burn or nicks.

gibbousmoonSurprised you shave daily but only change once a month. I use disposables but switch once a week. Currently using dollar shave double blade. Have a DE coming from MD. also have my grandfathers travel DE he used during WWII. Just need some good blades for both.

craingerI shave my neck only (because I have a beard but wear collared shirts and a tie) once every other day using a double edge razor blade, and I've found that I only NEED to replace my blades once every other month.
I can definitely still get a close shave out of them but I change the blade every month for reasons unknown even to myself (probably because I want to use my blade bank, honestly). I use Feather blades which can be had on Amazon for $24/100 (Link below to Prime shipping @$23.50, actually).
I even split the cost with a coworker who is in to wet shaving, so for me it's $12.50/50. I won't need to order new blades for ~4 years. I'd highly recommend using the DE.

RidevaDemocritusOdd. I posted a reply to pb239 which included a complete review of the Standard Razor, and now it's gone. I wonder if MD deleted it.
No biggie, I guess. I'm not so involved in this community anymore (I unsubscribed from all newsletters because I find them way too frequent and repetitive, and thus spammy). The tl;dr version is that after extensive use I still hate it in comparison to double-bladed disposable razors. Way too aggressive, and doesn't give me nearly as close a shave.

gibbousmoonI received notification about your response, but could not find it. The thumbs up notification sent me back here. You are 100% right about the frequency and redundancy of the emails. Critical editing, and returns seem to be an issue with Mass Drop.

RidevaDemocritusIt's probably a bug, now that I think about it. When I posted it, it gave me a double-post (after only clicking SUBMIT once), and so I deleted the extra post. One post remained for me, but perhaps the same bug causing the double-post also caused a double-delete that didn't take effect until after I stopped looking at the site. Oh well, that's another thing for the MD team to worry about / improve upon. ;)
