I would say that these could also hold other beverages and might be able to go places a large bottle might not be allowed. My question though, is how are these better for alcoholic beverages than just a standard Vapur?

Dr.DestructoI have the same question, and I could only come up with one possible answer: screw-top is less likely to come open inside your pack than the standard vapur flip-top. And having a ton of wine spill all over your gear is gonna be a TON worse than spilling water.
But I have never had a standard vapur (which also have a higher capacity) pop open on me. So I don't see much use for these.

I'm considering it for use on my sailboat. It's a small-ish boat, so weight matters, and glass + sail boats = bad things happening.

Or you could just buy black box wine. Wine in a box is the best thing since sliced bread.

smallbitWe're using it for whiskey. But yes, boxed wine is lovely.

I just like that there's enough people in the ultralight community thinking "man I'd really love to get sloshed on a hike but my bottles are too heavy" to warrant a drop for this. Good for you!

These are great for car camping or kayak camping too. Not having to haul glass is great, and these pack down when you're done, so less trash to pack out. Frankly, unlabeled wine at a house party is a little weird for me. I'd prefer to see where it's from, and know what it is I'm drinking.

gormanYes, but then again, you get a better slosh-per-gram ratio on whisky ;)

Is this for people that have an irrational fear of buying wine already in a bag? It's not the 90s, you can actually buy good bagged wine.

They were referring to boxed wine, which is in a bag inside. Hence the reference to the 90s when it was bleh. Now boxed/ bagged wine is much better stuff.

VajtagalYes that's what I was referring to, have to say this brought back a chuckle as I missed it the first time. In some parts of the world they do talk about casks instead of boxes(or goons as some of my friends call them for some reason). But it seemed silly since box/bag wine comes in all sizes usually from 0.5L to 5L. I have though noticed in some parts of the world they do an actual carton, not like the normal box with a bag in it that most of the world uses with wine so maybe that's what they meant by cask.
