I'm still holding out for some Kahtoola Microspikes.
Its topped one of the polls for some time and the nanos were on here not long ago, so hopefully the micros make it, because I want something between a crampon and lightweight cleats for early/late winter use.

I never have luck with these style of attachments. Once you start walking they always seem to slip forward since there is nothing really to hold the straps in place. Then they keep slipping forward since the farther ahead they slip the narrower the shoe gets.

I have some old steel instep crampons - similar to this but only 4 points - and they work surprisingly well on ice, so no reason why these shouldn't work quite well.

I don't think these will be a very good alternative to Microspikes or trail crampons. They look like they won't be stable and no rear traction means you're more likely to lose traction on the way down. But, I like where this is going... Microspikes are kind of bulky.
