As far as keebs go this is pretty average,
In order to make it sound better you need to lube the switches, but that requires alot of desoldering,
I got browns, and they're standard as they come, overall a decent keyboard, if you want full size this is a nice and aesthetically pleasing one.
I was so pleased with this board!! I got it for my fiance for his birthday and he was thrilled! For his first MK, it was amazing! I got the cherry Mx silver and am very pleased with those as well, very smooth keys.
I'm loving this keyboard. I think the only regret is I got the Cherry Brown option and I should have gotten something with a little more resistance for my taste. Also, I noticed the keys activate with a very light touch. Sometimes I rest a finger on the command key and it activates, even though I don't mean to push it.
My partner is a professional writer and was doing all of his work on a cheap, rubber dome keyboard for years. He deserved better.
The look on his face when he took this keyboard out of the box was one of sheer joy. He didn't even realize how much he needed a better keyboard until this one.
Now all I hear is happy sounds of "thock thock thock" from his office, and he says he's typing faster with more accuracy.
It's a sturdy build, and the "wood" looks real enough. The phoenix is a lovely aesthetic touch, as well as the adjustable backlighting. Well worth the wait.
But that was expected at the price. The keycaps are still great (other Varmillos come with some of the best keycaps out of the box). The feel is pretty solid and satisfying, and comes with no-nonsense Cherry (Silvers).
My second Varmilo... and a bargain in my opinion.
PS: I prefer TKL, so I was hesitant about this, and it is still one of the only parts of it I (personally) dislike... but that's just preference.
I ordered the Phoenix edition, and love the look right out of the box. The wood look is very warm and has a reddish hue, contrasting nicely with the black keys and white back lighting.
So far after 2 full days with the keyboard putting it through heavy use, I love this keyboard. There are additional lighting effects that are a nice touch, and the keys feel much softer than traditional Varmilo keys. The loss of the four keys in the top right from the typical 110% keyboard are not significant, as I use the keyboard for work.
The only downside, which is minor, is the loss of the function markings for media (volume, play, etc.). Since I use Varmilo daily at home and at work, I have the keystrokes memorized, but it would be something you need to have a cheat sheet for until you have the muscle memory.
Overall it is exactly what I wanted when I ordered.
