Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Because each row has a unique keycap shape, alt layouts require a unique keycap for each legend that moves off its QWERTY row. Art and Taste are things that can't be discussed, it's always up to the individual being.
I would assume that this case would last for generations to come and could be a housing for pcbs, we don't even know about yet.
But for me there is a problem with the direction this keyboard is taking regarding potential buyers.
If i'm a mechanerd, than give me this keyboard with clean one colored options, black, silver, red .... and lower the price to 249$ for example.
If i would be a lover of art, and this keyboard should fit. Get rid of this "boring" keycaps. Put Metal caps on it, of course, these caps should have an equal style like the case. Put leds underneath in various colors to get a nice ambient glow, and if i plug in the usb, let the keyboard play Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Doing so, you could raise the price tag to 999$ or more, "real" art is always expensive, doesn't have to fulfill any other purpose than pleasing the senses and imagination of the owner.
Cheers
I don't like the branded spacebar with comic sans either. My metal caps would be "blank", but in an artstyle fitting to the case.
Most of the so called art i've seen, goes hand in hand with insane prices, not reflecting the material, effort, whatever, at all.
Have a nice day
I guess you misunderstood my posting. But to give an appropiate answer, i've to say neither my kids nor my grandchildren are supposed to type on my mechas today or in the future.
Grandpa is already doing some research in getting a large enough coffin and graveyard. I might go to hell, maybe heaven. But even there i don't want to type on a rubberdome to send some spocky messages to the living.
I'm still not buying this, and I've paid utterly ludicrous amounts for collectable dolls in the past that would make any sane person's eyes pop out of their head.
