Alright, I changed my order to Gateron Blacks as I just purchased a NerD TKL with MX Greens.
Anyone know whether the Gateron Blacks come in a clear casing?
When will your NerD be here? I'm thinking about ordering one but here there is a long waiting line
You've got money to spend on a NerD anyways, just get it...
This keyboard is great. Perhaps the case is a bit flimsy but probably it's because I'm really used to the aluminium case of the Pok3r.
Any opinions regarding the Varmilo VA87MR or the Pok3r? The use would be for programming and gaming. I'm trying to decide between the two.
For gaming, you'll want the larger 87 key layout unless you play mouse driven games only.
You definitely need use of the arrows keys without having to hold fn for programming. Your productivity would definitely slow down if you got the Pok3r.
That's not necessarily true. vi/vim and emacs users don't need dedicated arrow keys. many people place cursor in their IDEs with the mouse. Neither is using a two-key combo for navigation particularly onerous.
The Poker and other 60% keyboards like the HHKB are very popular with coders.
For gaming, you can always set up a custom gaming layer with dedicated arrow keys.
Ye it is no problem for gaming. I was just pointing out that if your serious about programming then dedicated arrow keys will help you increase productivity as opposed to having to hold fn. Of course if your adamant about getting a 60% then go ahead, you'll just be slower.
As for using the mouse to move the cursor... the thought is just painful.
I purchased mine on /r/mechmarket. Supposedly only 2 days old. Should receive it early next week.
