Can someone explain why the Magicforce 68 has 304 purchased, while the Varmilo is struggling with 50 orders? Is it the Leopold-style profile, or maybe the price?
I'm at a loss, because I don't see where the Magicforce is superior to the VA87MR. I'm genuinely wondering why the Magicforce is so popular.
AdrienI think the Magicforce appeals to first time buyers with the price and flash. I don't get it either, that thing is hideous. Also the bluetooth version of this board just ended. All we need is one more person with some taste join :)
AdrienPretty sure it's because that's the first drop of the first board with that specific layout and it's super cheap. You'd be buying a brand new mx switch keyboard with backlighting for $6X.
The VA87MR has already had multiple drops.
WeeNinjaI agree w/ both of you, this will be my 3rd Varmilo. My first mechancial keyboard was & still is the K70 RGB. I'm still trying to get rid of it b/c of its terrible software & non standard layout (bottom / spacebar row). The 2nd was the Rosewill RGB80 which I was able to return & get a full return on. It too has terrrible software & uses Khalil switches that are falsely advertised as cherry mx switches. The main things I like about Varmilo boards are their quality build & function. Now, that Magiforce board's price really concerns me. That's extremely cheap for an rgb mechanical keyboard. New board, layout, etc....I can understand being interested, but it's seems more like that saying "you get what you pay for." My apologies if I offended anyone, but while you still have the chance you should cancel those magiforce orders & instead join this drop!
wsjones1981Your comment was one of the reasons that switched me over from the Magicforce drop. After looking at it, it does look really cheaply built compared to this one. This is my first MD/custom mech so I'm excited :) I'm sure it's much better than the Razer I have now...
AdrienPoor judgement and price, for sure. I live in Canada, so it's $75 vs. $149 USD (incl shipping). Definitely looking forward to the major upgrade though, it'll be worth it.
AdrienHey now, no need to bash other people. The keyboards you're comparing are completely different creatures (layouts), so they're really not comparable at all. And everyone has different tastes. And need I remind you that Varmilo is also a Chinese company that also had its debut once upon a time? Let's be civil.
WeeNinjaI didn't mean it in a bad way, nor was I trying to deprecate anyone. Just simply stating the fact of the matter: it appears some people (like roombanut above) buying the Magicforce would choose to buy the VB87 if they were better informed of both keyboards, which is what it is - poor judgement. Everyone makes poor judgements every now and then - I do it, you do it, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
You said "everyone has different tastes", and I can't agree more. I'm not judging their preferences. If someone bought a Magicforce given they are well-informed on both choices, I'd call that a good judgement.
If I didn't make myself clear, bottom line: I'm being civil.
AdrienI wasn't being very civil with my comments but now that this has hit lowest price I feel better :) I still think that MagicForce 68 is hideous but I guess that's just my "personal taste". Can't wait to see a decently done review of it.
