I have the new upcoming keyboard from Varmilo. Although in ISO layout. I have been testing it for Varmilo for a while.
The model name is VA88Mac and it's a dual-os keyboard which let you switch between Apple and window modes by holding down Fn-a or Fn-w For three seconds.
It it works great on macos 10.12.6. It handles filevault booting and password entry.
The backlight LED is controlled the same way as on Mac with F5/F6 but it seems to be strictly firmware based. it can be turned off and have four intensity levels when turned on
A 1.5 meter mini USB cable is included as well as a keycap puller.
I have posted a few photos of it on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/6r0lu1/my_varmilo_va88macn_dualos/?st=J5WOREN0&sh=9d6cbcc7
In case anyone's on the fence, I can vouch for the quality of this board. Still going strong after roughly a year.
Also, Dye-Sub caps have held up very well.
Not even listing or measuring in months or Years for starters; I'm only going by how it commonly displays, which is hours. My hours mark out to over a year spread across this gens different games if you prefer to talk smart about it.
I don't ever recall anyone that games would even need to describe their play hours as months or years.
You took my statement way too seriously. Of course, there will be some micro wearing on the keycap, but that's not what I'm referring to, and it is the last thing to happen, it's the dye-subbed legends that I'm referring on. The legends won't wear out and fade like the usual regular cheap stuff you see on most keyboards. Even if they did wear out, the legends will still be clearly visible, not faded. You should look into dye-sub seeing you don't know much about it than talking over your head.
There are old vintage keyboards with dye-sub legends that are still crisp today as the day they've been produced. Even gamers with dye-subbed keycaps will have a slim chance to see their legends fade on their commonly used keys.
I guess you don't own a dye-subbed pbt set yet; you should invest in one and see for yourself if you haven't already. An alternative is Doubleshot keycaps to consider.
The caps on this board are PBT dye sub, which is way better and more resistant than what you find on most keyboards, including those from Razer, Logitech, CoolerMaster, etc.
I've been using my VA87 for more than a year too, with lots of gaming (thousands of hours just in Guild Wars 2 alone) and the keys are like new. No visible wear at all. In that time, BTW, I've already changed my mouse twice.
aesahaettrIn Italy handcrafted by professionals and blessed by the Pope. Each board takes 6.5 hours to construct and assemble and the bottoms are signed "mi amor".
JamesXNot necessarily. The "blessing by the Pope" add-on is only in the ISO/Italian kit for an extra $329. Base kit includes an enthusiastic "mamma mia" with accompanying hand gestures by a local pizza chef which is still pretty solid.
AlexPkThis is pretty interesting. I knew it didn't make sense that my keyboard would just be sitting in your offices and that they all should be with UPS by now. I guess I'll just wait for Tuesday and see if it shows up. There's no Origin Scan or anything on my UPS tracking that shows that the keyboard is moving through their system so I'm wondering if my package is lost.
Warning, I bought a Varmilo VA87MR here on Massdrop. I received it in May of 2017. It's now December, and the "alt" keys stopped working. Varmilo told me to pursue warranty through Massdrop, but Massdrop says they only have a 30 day warranty. Varmilo keyboards are supposed to have a 1 year warranty, but no one is honoring it. I will not be purchasing another Varmilo keyboard, especially not through Massdrop.
nal85My alt/option keys suddenly stopped working after having this keyboard for a long time (I'm on macOS Mojave). I spent entirely too much time trying to get them working again (installed Key Codes and nothing was being emitted when I pressed the alt/option keys). Finally figured it out thanks to this article -> http://rainer.4950.net/2009/09/30/resetting-the-usb-keyboard-type-on-mac-osx/
* unplug keyboard
* delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist

I already knew it. But its representative seem to change frequently. In the past it was another one. I am worried about future warranty,service,communicaton... That is one important reason I reply on Amazon and that HK company. I often buy from Amazon, and actually already bought from that store.
Okay, I noticed something odd on my Varmilo: the space bar stabilizers don't have standard spacing:
search
The inner stems on the Varmilo original space bar do not align with any of the stems on more standard space bars. The outer stems do, though (but are not the ones used by the Cherry stabilizers on the board).
Other space bars (like Signature Plastic or GMK ABS space bars) do not fit on the Cherry stabilizers.
I managed to fix my issue by removing the Cherry stab and replacing them by Costar stabs (which are prefer) (I put them on the outer empty holes), but that's a bit odd.
Did anybody else notice the same thing on theirs?
Made a thread on GeekHack about it if anyone is interested (hope it's okay to post the link here): https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=72956.0
Hey, sorry for the confusion. I just tested it myself and it was N-key rollover on Mac. Command key still doesn't work as stated earlier, but not sure where the 6-key spec came from.
