Flexible Bag for Creative Rigging

For photographers and videographers whose creativity knows no limits, there’s finally a rigging solution that can keep up. The VBag Philip Bloom Edition (the “V” stands for “vacuum”) allows you to securely mount your camera just about anywhere. Simply place the bag where you want it, set your camera on top, form the bag around the base of the camera, and suck out the air using the included hand pump. Once the air has been evacuated, the VBag will become rock-solid, gripping your camera as well as the mounting surface and holding its shape for hours. This simple function opens up a world of possibilities: Turn any chair into a tripod, get the perfect top-down angle from your banister, capture a road-trip time-lapse from your car door, or record a video from your dog’s point of view. When you’re done shooting, you can wrap the bag around your camera for extra protection during transport.

Note: Like any other rigging tool, the VBag demands certain safety precautions. Exercise reasonable caution in site selection and use. When rigging above ground level or on a moving object, make sure to secure the camera and VBag with safety straps. To learn more about maintenance and repair, check out this user guide.

How It Works

Once you’ve selected your mounting site, place your camera firmly on the VBag and wriggle it into position. This forces the polystyrene pellets inside the bag to fit exactly around the base of the camera (or whatever device you want supported). When you evacuate the VBag using the vacuum pump, the air pressure differential compresses the pellets, “freezing” the current shape of the bag. If you want to keep the VBag “frozen,” insert the protect caps in the valves. Note that if you move quickly from a cold to hot setting, or expose an evacuated VBag to direct sunlight or a warm environment like a film studio, you may notice a loss of firmness caused by the air volume expanding inside. You can maintain the vacuum pressure in a few strokes with the vacuum pump.
