i'm interested in this.
but what makes these so special compared to the hanes or banana republic ones that are so much cheaper?

NYalexWondering the same thing myself. I wouldn't mind the price for a really good t-shirt, but this just looks like an "it's cool because it's vintage" product. The fit doesn't even look that great to me, can anyone who has one of these give any input?

NYalexThe main differences are the increased quality of the construction and materials, but also the vintage design, made in USA provenance, and the heritage brand associated with it. Also, these are being made expressly for us in a small batch rather than being mass-produced overseas. Those things are important to some people, others don't really care, and that's fine.
-The material is much beefier, so better suited for wearing without anything over it (as opposed to a thinner, more undershirt-y tee) -Better stitching and tubular construction (no side seams) -Made in California (like me!) -the design is from a famous sportswear brand from the early 20th century -you can get a pocket on it if you want (I'm pro-pocket, but that's just me)
I don't expect this to appeal to everyone on Massdrop, but like most of the things on this site, this brand has pretty huge niche appeal so some will enjoy the extra details this provides. We sold out of all the S, M, and L ones in a day or so last time. I have the gray with a pocket and am a big fan, but that's just my opinion.

NYalexThe last drop I got the heather gray with the pocket. The difference between these and Hanes is the quality of the shirt. It is really well made and fits really well and can be worn as a stand alone shirt. A Hanes shirt is more of an undershirt. I really wish they had black I would get those too. This drop I am getting the white and the oatmeal because the shirt is really comfortable, fits really well, and I look good in it. I know that may seem silly but a lot of shirts these days have a horrible build quality and just fit terribly on the body. I am 6'3" 220 pound fit male and buying XL shirts that fit my body correctly without it being too tight and too big in certain places is hard for me to find. Surprisingly these fit really well.

Cman1098It's possible, but since this is our first made-to-order drop with VS we wanted to stick with their classic colors. In theory they can do any color you want, it just adds time since they have to dye the fabric. We'll see how this process goes, and if all goes smoothly then we can consider it in the future!
The bigger our order is, the easier it is for us to get what we want next time around, so thanks for backing, @Cman1098!
