Just recieved mine today. They sound meh.. Sub-bass is non-existent. Even bass and low-mids are not there enough. At least mids and treble are kind of OK. I don't think I can use these for gym or running sessions due to lack of bass. Most probably they will go as a little present for some kids in the family.

These are earbuds - not sure what you were expecting. Generally you want to go for IEMs if you like bass.

I had better earbuds in the past (some dirt cheap Sony's for example). The hype is not real, just saying.. I did pay nothing for these Monk's btw. Got them free with my almost expiring discount coupon.

As someone who has listened to a lot of earbuds at this point, these earbuds are meant for those seeking a fairly neutral/balanced signature and aren't after a bass-oriented sound. Really, they're a great thing to try out if you're considering giving earbuds a chance as they haven't been that viable a route for a long time now. There are other options to go with if you're wanting some bass in an earbud, but the Monk+ is very talented for it's price. There's also the possibility you're used to high end gear, but I don't know you so I can't say. I've known some people that once they get close to the top end, they just can't stand to go back, and that's fine. I'm glad I'm not one of those people.

Give it time. You won't get heavy bass from these, just balanced sound with a huge sound stage. It can give you a definite thump when required. With earbuds you sacrifice isolation but in return the Monk provides realism and comfort. It's not a toy but a real gem and a fantastic value.
