Based on what I've read about the (non-TRRS) Monk Plus models with braided cables, it seems like the braided cable option is largely just for aesthetics, and the audio quality is more or less the same as the standard, $5 model. Has anyone here had the chance to compare the two?

i would assume that they both sound the same, but i'd just prefer a beefy looking cable over a thin one just because it'll last longer.

The only place to read about us is our facebook group ~ and if u r curious about the sound of MD braided Monk plus, u can just search with the key word espresso~ which is pretty much the same thing, of course I will have to admit the MD Mid-night blue braided is the best looking braided monk we have yet~
