Definitely my first and last Drop. Had I gone through Aliexpress the items would have arrived by now.

This is my 7th drop and this is the first "issue" I've had.

Don't let this sour you on the idea of Massdrop. You're not just getting the VE Monk Plus, you're getting a limited edition version. The timing could be better, sure, but you'll definitely get them. And you'll likely be very happy with them. Massdrop is slower than just ordering a thing from an online store, but you can get some good deals and limited stuff. it's a bit of a trade-off.

It is certainly a trade off and considering these are cheap products being shipped directly from china to cross a sea and then one of the largest nations in the world, It will take some time. The manufacturer had to make how many ear buds?... A LOT. That alone takes a long time.

Take into consideration what you got yourself into. You joined a large group to order a bulk of items which has to be made, put into a big ass box, shipped across an ocean, then a country and from then the items get separated and sent to those that joined the drop. By ordering directly from the manufacturer, of course it will take less time. The label is printed and makes it's way directly to you. The item comes straight off a shelf and doesn't have to be special made in LARGE quantities. This is certainly one of the longer times people have waited. Just be patient. This isn't your typical retail store. I'm sorry that you don't comprehend what all goes on in large group purchases like this.

You're right man, people should consider that they're also saving money from buying at massdrop. The VE monks are priced at $5 USD currently at AE right now and its only 4.99 here, people should consider that everyone at venture electronics and massdrop are working really hard to get what we want at bargain.

Agreed! PLUS, you can't get this item directly from VE. It's a limited edition.

Aliexpress may certainly have faster shipping, but keep in mind that they do not offer this version of the product (I think). However, it is not that simple. It is listed as somewhere between $5-$10, so your $5 is not always guaranteed. Shipping is definitely more per person. I bought 2 units on this drop and my shipping was 3.50. On Aliexpress it would be 4.15. I know we are talking about very small differences in reality, but think of it by percentage.
In the grand scale, this package is of 3000 some units and weighs almost as much as a person, making shipping likely difficult and especially expensive for overseas. I imagine if they went for a shipping company with good tracking and fast service, we all would probably be paying twice as much IN SHIPPING (@gelizaga) as what we did pay or what Aliexpress offers.
The ability for MD to make this happen for something that already has such a low MSRP has consequences and this is it. It is however in no means a failure, but rather a very difficult feat because of its already low price. I suppose a warning about shipping would have helped when the drop was active, but we were told not to much later that shipping may be tough because they are all behind schedule in HK or whatever... We will all hopefully receive it soon since MD did receive it.

I'm fully aware of the process of large group orders, but thanks for the condescending post. I had to learn through a Head-Fi post from Lee that the order was rejected by UPS three times. That bit of information would have gone a long way had MD bothered with transparency.

It's not that they aren't transparent, it's a professional business. There's no use in complaining about something that can be fixed. It's also not a great idea to agitate the MD community which can quite possibly stir up trouble with a company that the MD Logistics team doesn't need to lose business with.
