After listening to them some more from other sources, yeah they are a little tizzy and hot at the top. I would say the bass is light. Kinda thin sounding. Very spacious though. But when I plug them into my Oppo HA-1, it smooths everything out and sounds a lot better. Bet tube would smooth it out even more.
UzuzuThey do? I was gonna replace these with my Sony buds that I bought a while ago. With the Sony's you can hear lower bass that I can't hear with these. Dark? Really? These are really bright like Grados. You can almost cook eggs with those hot sizzling trebles.
AftermanNot sure, but your first description is almost exactly my first impression. I still can't really listen to these since they sometimes get quite sharp and become painful to listen to, even at low volumes.
I've tried to burn them in with no luck so far.
AftermanWell can't hurt to try again after burning in :)
Then again, maybe it's just different perception. You could try using two layers of foams or normal thicker foams instead of the thin ones that come with the monks. That might give you more bass and make the treble less harsh...
Aftermanyeah they have high treble, but they definitely lean on the darker side at least IMO. I compared them to some 20 year old nameless sony buds I had. Mids were actually not as good but the old sonys had little bass.
UzuzuThey are slightly south of neutral at least in my opinion, though understandably their treble can be a little iffy - they're trying to do everything as right as they possibly can and of course at $5 some stuff is going to be a little less than ideal but still.
Can confirm they sound nice and smooth from tubes though. LOL
VigrithI power all my phones through solid state and the treble on my Monk+ gets really hot and harsh at the top. Otherwise these earbuds are quite dark.
I'd love to try these through some tubes though.
