I have several of these Forshner / Victorinox knives at home, and they are great for a chef on a budget. Nowadays I mostly use my Shun set or the Kagayaki knife I got on Massdrop recently. FYI, if you have a local restaurant supply store or butcher they might have the cheapest price on these.
I love these knives, I always had them in stock in my knife/kitchen shop. Its been a couple of years, so I'm not in the loop anymore, but whats the deal with the price?! I charged $29.99US for them. Have they gotten so popular that the price has gone up?
Already have this knife (was $25 on Amazon when I got it in 2012) and it's great for that price. I find it sharpens fine for normal stuff. Just make sure to get a honing steel and one of those KitchenIQ/PriorityChef sharpeners (no need for fancy stone sharpening with this cheap a knife). For day to day stuff it's great and it will last if you take some basic care of it (make sure to wash it and dry it by hand after use, and use a knife block or BladeSafe to store it so it doesn't bang up against other stuff).
