You know how we all poke fun at Montblanc for going from making pens to watches? And that’s despite being given Minerva to work with. Well, Victorinox was smart to make the jump. They sell Swiss Made tools, and watches were originally just that - tools. Ive had one of their automatic chrinographs for just over a year now, and it was built like a tank. 45x16x52 with domed sapphire, see through caseback, and a rotating countdown timer to go along with the chronograph. It’s one of my favourite watches. Their designs are hit and miss, but the build quality does seem to be there. Hopefully we get some of their autos on here one day.

As far as I see it is not hardened titanium alloy, and too big at 43mm dia.

S2KiI think they did not use alloy. If I have to guess it would be Grade 2 Titanium which is a commercially pure titanium . It is the least expensive titanium with a relatively good machinability , formability. It is softer and weaker than Ti alloys. It is also softer and weaker than grade 3 and 4 which are also pure titanium grades not alloys.

The trend in field watches to SuperLuminova is really disappointing. If you really depend on lume, such as divers or SAR folks, you will need to really think about charging it up first.. GTLS is the fail safe method of lume. The watch is handsome, but I will pass because no GTLS.

Long ago I was torn between this one and a Citizen Promaster Tough Land. I got the Citizen because Eco-drive. They're about the same price on regular straps, little bit extra for the coated stainless-steel bracelet on the Citizen.
