The exclusivity refers to the fact that these variations can only be purchased through Massdrop. The number produced varies depending on the company Massdrop is working with, some have a specific minimum that must be ordered before they will even commit to production. Not sure what Victorinox's minimum is.
Thank you for the comment brotha. I understand they are exclusive just to massdrop but it would be nice if they could give a production amount. Do they plan to sell them for years on end? A big part of buying certain knives for me is that "exclusivity" I would much rather have a knife where only 1,500 were made instead of 5,000.
Fair point. In some cases MD discloses that number (see recent Spyderco exclusives) but I couldnt even hazard a guess as to what that number is here. There weren't a lot of people participating in the poll that got this Spartan colorway voted in, but I don't know how much that impacts the number produced.
As @GentlemanSin said there are several variables that determine how many units of any given product will be produced. I am happy to say that we have reached the minimum order on this drop with the help of everybody joining BUT this pattern will only be made for the who people joined - no more, no less, so its pretty exclusive.
This whole project was managed ineffectively and really impacts the companies credibility. Its very concerning how no one from Mass Drop caught this especially if they are doing the shipping. I did not even participate in the drop and am upset. It kind of confirms for me that this whole thing is gimmicky run by a lot of inexperienced people and it's starting to show in many ways.
