From the makers of the original Swiss Army Knife comes the SwissTool X Plus Ratchet. Loaded with 40 tools in a compact package, it has everything you need to tackle virtually any job Read More
This is a review of the Swiss Tool Spirit XC Plus Ratchet.
This is a great set of tools and the individual quality of the tools is excellent. The 1/4" ratchet driver is especially nice: it came with a good selection of bits. It also came with plenty of empty slots to fill with the bits that the owner needs frequently. For example, I have a need for hex bits with some frequency, and I was able to add the bits I needed from my collection.
There are two small issues that I've run into, but not enough to take a full star off.
The pliers would be a bit easier to use if they had a spring-loaded hinge to push them open rather than the unsprung hinge they have.
The tool that I received appears to be a "Swiss Tool Spirit XC Plus Ratchet," not the "Swiss Tool X plus Ratchet." The main differences between that and the pictured/described tool are a different serrated blade ("large blade with wavy edge" and not "large blade" according to Victorinox), a slightly different bent handle design with no ruler, and a brown pouch instead of black. Victorinox advertises '36 tools' for the Spirit XC, and '38' for the X, but they count the metric and imperial rules as tools: looking at their "compare" feature on their web site it seems they name some tools differently when they appear to be the same from the pictures.
I received a Swisstool spirit, not the product actually advertised. Drop did offer a full refund if I returned it or a partial refund if I kept it. I did elect to keep it as I liked the Spirit. However, I thought I should let the community know I received a different product.
