240hz?! I am at 144hz/fps on things... I really can't imagine things being much clearer. So I googled it... "Human's eye can see up to 1000 FPS ". So I guess there would be a visible difference. Has anyone used this and can talk about it?

smallbithahahaha grandpa science
so, here is an interesting page:
https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/comments/1vy3qe/how_many_frames_per_second_can_the_eye_see/
It's reddit, so obviously take it with a grain of salt, but the first poster has some serious credentials. I think if you were gonna lie on the internet, it would be about your dick size, not the number of still frames a second a fighter pilot can see! (255, btw...the study showed that trained pilots were able to discern details from an image shown to them for 1/255th of a second)
I think 1000 is really on the high side...but remember too, with monitors you get a new problem: the X times a second the monitor refreshes is not guaranteed to be the same X times a second the GPU renders a frame. the higher the refresh rate of the monitor, the more likely the two are to land together (or adjacent, at least).
I have a feeling freesync, gsync, and all these other things are solving that problem, but I haven't had a chance to look into it. I will do my research this week, but if anybody wants to give me a quick correction or crash course, I'm down for that too!

Seelen255 sounds right. So that means you would be able to see the difference between this and a 144hz gaming monitor. Beast! :D

smallbitJust cause Jordan can dunk doesn't mean I can too =P But at least we know the threshold of what can be accomplished, "with training" haha
I honestly don't know a lot about the practical differences, either for normal viewing or competitive gaming. I would hold out to see what others with more experience in the matter have to say.

smallbitHey, I own a Alienware 240hz monitor I have used 144hz monitors in the past, I have a good grip on the subject. First lets start off with the difference in how fluid a moving scene looks and that really is the difference you are paying for. The good news is there is one but it is very small and most people would not even notice it, very much unlike the difference between 60hz and 144hz witch is huge. There is a downside to this monitor as well it is 1080p and i'm sorry but that's too low for most people in the market for a 2018 monitor. If i could recommend anything it would be the 1440p 144hz dell gaming monitor that retails for the same price. You can overclock it to 165hz and the bezels are very nice. In my opinion the slightly lower refresh rate and added pixel density is well worth the trade in games like pubg because more pixels will be assigned to any given target meaning more information for your eyes. But if you are an outstanding counter-strike player and wants that sweet sweet lowest latency possible snag yourself a 240hz display and call it good. Anyways that my thoughts on it i run a quad monitor setup with the monitors mentioned above and could not be more pleased.

smallbitReally depends on what you are doing. I have the ASUS version of this monitor- and it’s pretty obvious when compared to 144hz and 165hz panels while playing Overwatch. My wife immediately noticed the difference. Anyone I have shown it to has noticed a difference. HOWEVER if you aren’t playing first person shooters or something of that nature it won’t really matter all that much. If you love CSgo or Overwatch etc like myself- it was an amazing upgrade and I don’t think I can go back. Look up blur busters website for more scientific discussion of the topic though .
