I don't want to tell people how to cook or how to spend their money. After I got my Instant pot, my old pressure cooker just gathers dust. The convenient of set it and forget it of the Instant Pot is great. I may pull out and use my old pressure cooker again when I go camping or there is no electricity (like in the old day).
You miss my point of The convenient of set it and forget it. I can dump a whole bunch of ingredients into the Instant Pod, set it and go dog-walking without worrying about setting the house on fire.

Jonathan-LeI guess I understand that, just for my lifestyle, having to, or wanting to, walk away isn't an issue. And I do have space in my kitchen for storing the stove top PC and, not so much a counter top appliance.
How could Drop claim that retail is $400 ?? Amazon has the same cooker for $150 (with Prime) and they claim retail is $250 ! Not saying that is not an excellent cooker...but a bit of honesty in advertisement would be welcome. Alex
I own a Calphalon pressure cooker with a very similar design, mechanically speaking. The pot looks almost identical, the lid clamps down around the edges the same way, and though there are stylistic differences, the controls and the pressure valves are functionally almost the same. Based on my experience with the Calphalon, I'd say this is probably a very good performer.
Viking cooking equipment is top notch. I have a couple cast iron pans and I bought a used pressure cooker of theirs a long time ago and have never had any issues with them. My brother cooks for a living and has a plethora of viking equipment and swears by the brand.
Is the warranty international or valid for the US only? I'm also rather concerned about having to replace the gasket, not sure if it will be readily available to purchase and ship over or to purchase in my country
$220 on Amazon and $179 at Viking's website....hmmmm. Been kinda half-ass shopping for a pressure cooker to round out my kitchen tools for about a year but haven't pulled the trigger. This being Viking, (started looking at used 36"-48"range oven combos of theirs the last couple weeks) so I know the brand is pretty reputable. Plus it comes with a 10 year warranty. Seems like every once in a while Massdrop will pull out a good one and represent the vision of what they want to be. Think I'm gonna pop on this.
stevefury68I hopped on it the last drop and it's been super nice. Very high quality cooking equipment. I expect it to last many years after the warranty.
JahsephYou will still have to pay 20 something dollars to Canada post for the tax, DHL will charge you another 10 cad for paying the tax in advance for you. so yeah, it sucks buying stuff in Canada
