OldTrailDogVintage is an over-used term. Do you mean actually old cast iron skillets, or are you saying recently manufactured cast iron skillets represent older technology?
BTW: both cast iron and stainless have their uses in a well equipped kitchen--don't hesitate on this one (or any other quality version). I have the 6 qt stock pot and it's very well made.
RayFI am referring to cast iron skillets that I purchased second hand at least four decades ago. They were well used items at that time. Consequently, they appear at least as vintage, aka "old", as this old dog is.
