Do all public utilities have a rebate for these smart thermostats? I know in my state the rebate covers almost the whole cost.

Just wanted to drop in to say the physical product is ugly, and so is the interface. Yikes

No Home Assistant component for Vine Thermostats at the moment. Not really sure what the point is of a smart thermostat if it can't be integrated with one of the most widely supported smart home control systems.

Alexa =/= Home Assistant
https://www.home-assistant.io/ Very different than alexa/google. This is smart home control for the enthusiast and/or anyone that wants to limit how much of their data goes to corporate cloud data. Considering there are 1000+ services supported by HA, not having that support would be a deal-breaker for a lot of would-be early adopters.

I noticed this is only in the wireless 2.4g range, no 5g option. I'll be about 30ft away through a brick fireplace. Does anyone have this with a similar obstruction and it work fine?

WutdafuhkI can't say for sure it will work through brick, but the 2.4g has better penetration than 5g, so 2.4g would stand a better chance.

WutdafuhkWhy would you need 5ghz speeds on a thermostat??? You’re not going to download torrents on it.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

I own a small coffee shop with an older Hvac unit. Is there any reason this would ‘t work for that? We have digital thermostat installed already.
cspeelIt should work just fine.

Install is super easy -- just label or diagram all of your existing wires and how they are connected before detatching them. I have three of these and while firmware updates could have been better in the early days, everything has stabilized out. Have used them for at least three years with no issues other than the early firmware quirks. Do your research; yet, I recall that this company is sufficiently backed by investors. Customer service is responsive though there is a bit of a language barrier at times. The App is very usable. The only installation challenge may be how to connect that one wire that controls the fan -- you have to follow instructions; yet, their tech support can help if you have any questions. There are decent supplemental instructions and a compatability chart on their website as well.

So does the TJ-919 come with a 5.5" screen, or a 6.5" screen? All this contradicting information is making it hard for my small consumer brain to click "join".

There are some reviews on Amazon. I think it is the same one. Looks like it may be ok if you don't mind not having any Alexa integration. https://www.amazon.com/VINE-Smart-Wi-Fi-Thermostat-Programmable/dp/B01JU1DZN8

Hi Lucas, hasn't been an issue yet. I have two Vines, and they are addictive.

turnturn1225I've had mine for about half a year. there's pros and cons. the 5 minute temperature update is a bit slow. if you have a small room or building it can overshoot the temperature target. The outside forecast temperature is even more accurate where I live than google. usually within 1-2F of my digital thermometer outside. the night light can be useful for those with difficulty in dark rooms. the temperature dial is hard to turn and very slippery. Shouldn't be a problem as there's app control and touch screen. The app is fairly usable, and most features on the main unit can be controlled through the app and vise versa, although I've never figured out how to get the geo fencing option to work. It just doesn't do anything. From my experience I wouldn't call it a "smart" thermostat, as it doesn't automatically adjust itself or learn behavior. it's just very feature rich and very programmable.
