Adding/Including Memories
I lost my dad last year (2023) and have been finding ways to include keepsakes/memories in my workstation. I've dabbled here and there with doing small woodworking projects and attempted a wrist rest from a piece of oak I picked up with him from my great uncles wood shop. I milled it to fit a 60% keyboard as I hadn't decided what keyboard I would be using it on and thought that's where most of my wrist would be in contact even typing on a full keyboard. I gave it a torched/burn appearance as I really was lost in what to do. I found an old shell casing from going hunting with my dad in my hunting pack and decided to imbed it into the end of the wrist rest so it would just have a little difference and a small story behind it as well. I have other things around my workstation from family and friends, but it just feels a little more special having worked on it and adding something small that has a memory for me to it. The fact that Massdrop drops 1080ti graphics cards, LG OLED TVs, and $900 TOTL in-ear monitors, while cheaping out with exclusively FreeSync monitors demonstrates a baffling degree of market and customer ignorance on the part of Massdrop's product managers.
This results in the Profit V. Investment ratio to get extremely scary for companies like us (companies that focus on consumer response, agility, and flexibility). Since they will cost an extra ~$200 per monitor (without any increase in profit) the only way to justify it is a HUGE increase in volume.
TL:DR
We would need forecast data to show a huge sales-volume increase by adding G-sync.
I was addressing Massdrop and its incoherent offerings given the suite of drops across a few different communities and the fact that this website does retain an enthusiast segment.
We are in this for the long-haul and would enjoy disrupting the G-sync market as well :) .
As we move forward; expect new product lines, steady improvements on our existing lines (using your feedback), Better GUI/OSD, and new features!
I can assure you we are not purposely ignoring that market segment and will continue to work diligently to supplythe products you want!
I await your entry into the g-sync market. The people who are looking for a g-sync with those specs are willing to pay the premium for superior tech.
Love your products, even bought the gold monitor that was up earlier, tho I had to give it to my gf due to the vesa mounts being all sorts of difficult to work with.. regardless, you have my attention, Viotek, hope the long-haul is in it for you as well.
