I've installed these for years and have had great success. Viper/DEI is an awesome company and one of the most popular brands. If you have a newer car, you will need some extra modules for the remote start function to work, and those will need programming by a dealer. Ideally, this would be an excellent purchase for a DIY person with an older car, as most shops will charge extra for alarms purchased elsewhere.

if you need any programing done outside of that can be done with the valet switch good luck. you will be paying a dealer as you use to be able to do things through the DEI website but they locked everyone out of it but dealers.

Are these able to be used with a manual transmission? Or does it need an add-on?

ArchAngel857They can be, but it’s very finicky. If my memory serves, you have to do the following to arm the remote starter: come to complete stop, parking brake up, remain in neutral, DON’T shut off the car, leave the car, close the door, press remote start button to arm the system. The car will then shut off and the system will be armed. If you unlock the doors or open them at any point it will no longer be armed.
