Received my alarm today..... previously opened box (ripped tape and torn lid). Alarm was in an opened bag. Why am I not surprised. Waiting to see how Massdrop is going to make this right.
While this may have shipped from the "vendor" (wonder who that is) it's not my obligation as a customer to receive previously opened products as "new" as a means to justify a lower price. It's either advertised as new (as this is) or it's used (which is what "refurbished" is). Someone is repackaging products here and shipping them as new. The kind of practice you expect to see with shady companies and not Massdrop.
Most sales for remote start systems come with free (basic) installation at least. Sounds like a better deal than buying this and trying to install it yourself. Best buy / Fry's will ding you for additional parts but imo seems much more worth.
Chairman_WangSetting aside my feelings on the alarm I just received.... you won't find this alart with any kind of installation for 199 bucks. Probably closer to 300 for the alarm + installation. Jfyi.
I’ve had this exact alarm in my Toyota Tacoma for years now and it is still working like new. I remote start all day long and it perfect. I like that when I have to run into a store with the dogs in the truck I just remote start it with the air conditioning on and I can watch that it is on and I can see the temperature inside the truck just by looking at the remote. It’s at 93 degrees because I just started it first thing this morning.
BubbyHi,
yes one 2-way and one 1-way. I purchased a second 2-way when I had it installed so they could program it at the same time. I have never used the 1-way control.
Am I missing something or has Massdrop forgotten its laurels? The money saved from bulk orders is supposed to at least be worth the extended shipping times. Here, its $194 at full drop. but its only $180 elsewhere ( http://a.co/9OuMFQB ), and dont forget the month lead time.
lgcabreraThere are safety features to prevent the remote start from working on a manual transmission car but it requires proper alarm installation and knowledge of how to properly turn off/exit the vehicle so the alarm can remote start safely later.
There is a number of steps you need to follow when exiting and turning off the car to put it into the correct state to be able to remote start later.
In any case having the system installed properly is the key.
